Reconciling a death is different than “getting over it.” You never really “get over it” you just process and reconcile it so that you can go on living effectively.
Grief is what happens to us when a loved one dies. Or we may experience grief from another kind of loss. Mourning is the process we go through to reconcile our loss so that we can continue to go forward with life. It is a process of letting go of the past so that we can move to the future.
Mourning using healthy methods helps us not become mired in our grief, weighed down, and unable to move ahead successfully.
